Sunny Days Cotton Tee

I am totally obsessed with cotton in the Spring/Summer months.
It's perfect for projects for your home or for your closet.
So I wanted to end Summer off with an easy cotton tee
Bernat Handicrafter is available in so many colours...pastels, brights, and neutrals.
Here are just a few of my favourites, it's so hard to pick one!

I've been wanting to use the Salt and Pepper colourway from Bernat Handicrafter for a while and when I came across this stitch, I knew it was meant to be.
yarnspirations.com
The actual tee is made up of 2 identical panels.
No shaping.
Minimal seaming.
It's a perfect beginner project if you want to learn a new stitch.

The arcade stitch is beautiful and definitely looks more complicated than it actually is.

VIDEO TUTORIAL:
I've created a step by step video of the Arcade Stitch so you'll be a pro!

I'm saying goodbye to Summer with the Sunny Days Cotton Tee!

Let's do it!

Notes before you begin:
*your beginning chain determines how wide each panel will be. Increase the amount of chains (in multiples of 6 +2) to make the panel wider, and decrease the amount of chains (in multiples of 6 + 2) to make the panel smaller.
*the tee is made up of 2 identical panels (front and back) using the Arcade Stitch.
*you can complete as many rows as you want determining the length of your top (I completed 31 rows for each panel)
*I made a size small and used about 3/4 of the 12oz (big ball) of Bernat Handicrafter in Salt and Pepper
*the only seaming you will be doing is at the shoulders and at the sides

Repeat Rows 1 to 4 until desired length is reached.

I completed 31 rows for size small.

(note: make sure to end on a scalloped edge, this is the bottom of the tee - THIS WOULD END AT ROW 1 OR 3)

Seaming panels together:

Lay both panels on top of each other.
The scalloped edging is the bottom of the tee.
The straight edge will be the top of the tee.

Slip stitch the shoulders leaving a neck hole.
I completed 12 sl st for each shoulder.

Slip stitch the sides, leaving arm holes.

Turn it right side out and you're done!

It was that easy!

  1. This is lovely! I’m not sure I’ve seen this colour in Michael’s or not, but will look for it. I was wondering how a top made from the handicrafter yarn feels on? I "always" think of dishcloths with it and have made them and always find once they dry or come out of the dryer they sure aren’t soft. How are you washing your sweaters with this yarn and keeping them soft? Do you hand wash and lay flat to dry?

    1. I've made so many pieces with this yarn - it feels great to me. I hand wash and lay flat to dry. If you can't find it at Micheals, you can buy it online from yarnspirations.com - links above. :)
