I love making these chunky blankets for my girls.
I made this ice cream blanket for my youngest daughter who loves ice cream!
But what kid isn't obsessed with it :)
I even weaved through the cone to give it a "waffle" look!
My oldest daughter Ella has a dessert themed room, with pictures
on her wall of cupcakes and donuts.
I made her this donut blanket a few years ago.

I completely winged this Ice Cream Graph and it worked out so well.
The sprinkles are optional, but my daughter requested them!
This is a very easy graph to follow and Bernat Blanket yarn works up so quickly.
Notes before you begin:
-There is a wrong side and a right side to this blanket.
-When you are working on the right side, all your yarn will be dropped behind your work and the graph will be read RIGHT to LEFT.
-When you are working on the wrong side, all your yarn will be dropped in front of your work and the graph will be read LEFT to RIGHT. (this will keep all your ends to the back/wrong side of the blanket).
-Here is a video I did to show you exactly how to do this technique (from my Cozy Tree Pillow Pattern), click HERE.
-If you are feeling uneasy about picking up and dropping your yarn as you go, you can cut the ends of every row and always work on the RIGHT side of the blanket. This will give you a lot more ends to weave in.

-a border is added once the graph is complete, you can make it as thick as you want
-I found a Bernat Blanket Stripes (colourway: Red Alert) that had a red colour in it, I used that for my cherry on top, but you can use any red scarp yarn for that.
OTH Crochet Nook Pattern: There's Always Ice Cream Blanket
Materials:
Hook size: 10.00mm
Yarn: Bernat Blanket Yarn in:
1 x Pixie Pink
1 x Sand
1 x Seafoam
3 x Vintage White
Sweet and Sour Varg (this is for the sprinkles if you want them)
Red scrap yarn (this is for the cherry at the top if you want it)
Legend:
CH - Chain
SC - Single Crochet
RS - Right Side
WS - Wrong Side
3SC - 3 Single Crochets in the same stitch
SL ST - Slip Stich
(with Vintage White)
CH 61.
Row 1: SC in the 2nd ch from the hook, continue SC until the end of the row, Turn. (60)
Row 2: Ch.1, SC until the end of the row. Turn. (60)
Now begin the graph below.
Add colours in as indicated in the graph.
Row 1 of Graph - read from RIGHT to LEFT (RS)
Row 2 of Graph - read from LEFT to RIGHT (WS)
*continue the graph this way
*every odd numbered row will be your right side
*every even numbered row with be your wrong side
*see note below for special stitch for the (optional) cherry on top
Row 65 of graph (RS)
Cherry on top:
Attach red yarn to the 30th stitch in the 65th row.
Extended Puff Stitch: Pull up your red yarn, YO, insert hook into stitch, YO again and pull through. You will now have 3 loops on your hook.
Repeat this 5 more times.
You should have 13 loops on your hook.
YO and pull through all loops on hook, Ch 1.
BORDER:
-Single Crochet all the way around the blanket
-at each corner stitch, make sure to do 3SC
-I completed 3 rows all the way around
-you can do this border as thick as you want

SPRINKLES:
This is optional.
I used multiple strands from Bernat Blanket - Sweet and Sour Varg.
Cut 15 x 3 inch strands and tie them in different places on the pink scoop of ice cream
You can do as many sprinkles as you want!
WAFFLE CONE:
I weaved in a long strand of SAND over every row of the cone.
I wanted lines across it to resemble a waffle cone.
Again, this is optional.
