OTH Classic Granny Square

This is the easiest Granny Square you will ever make.
It's perfect for beginners and perfect a crocheter that has NEVER made a Granny Square before.

The pattern is repetitive, making it a mindless crochet project and perfect to watch TV and crochet!

If you search basic or classic Granny Square this one will be top of the search.

This is also a perfect square to make into a blanket, just keep working up row after row until it reaches the size you want.  Great for a beginner blanket!

I have a FULL VIDEO TUTORIAL on how to make this square and the written pattern is below.

I Can Buy Myself Flowers Granny Square Bag

I love making granny squares! You can do make so many different projects with them.

This Granny Square Bag helped my stash, I used a lot of scrap yarn and didn't think too much about the colors I was using for each square. I tried to make each square a different combination.

So have fun stash busting with this bag.

It's simple, works up quickly and perfect for beginners.

One VERY important tip, make sure the yarn you are choosing is all the same weight and similar texture. It will make it easier and the squares will work up the same size.

I used cotton/cotton blends, weight 4 for this bag.

There is a diagram below that will show how I laid the squares out for seaming.

The handles are crocheted right on to the bag after seaming.

Are you ready!

Let's make the I Can Buy Myself Flowers Granny Square Bag!

Fasten off and weave in ends here to complete the square.

Seaming:

I made 17 squares and laid them out as pictured below.

Seam all of the squares together with slip stitches or single crochets.

*Note: The squares where the bag folds in half can be a little tricky to seam together.

Here is a photo to help you:

Turn it inside out.

Handles:

Sharing this photo again below, as it shows in bold where the handles are worked up.

Attach yarn to the corner of the bag opening.

Single crochet to the top of the bag and make a chain of approx 50, you can make it as long as you'd like. Repeat on opposite side of bag.

Work 2-3 rounds of single crochets around the bag and handles.

Add more rounds if you want wider handles.

Weave in any remaining ends and that's it!

I'd love to see your I Can Buy Myself Flowers Granny Square Bag!
