This is the easiest Granny Square you will ever make.
It's perfect for beginners and perfect a crocheter that has NEVER made a Granny Square before.
The pattern is repetitive, making it a mindless crochet project and perfect to watch TV and crochet!
If you search basic or classic Granny Square this one will be top of the search.
This is also a perfect square to make into a blanket, just keep working up row after row until it reaches the size you want. Great for a beginner blanket!

OTH Crochet Nook Pattern: Classic Granny Square
Hook: 5mm
Yarn: Any worsted yarn will do. I used BRAVA in Wren and Gingerbread (pictured)
Granny square size: 5" x 5"
Scissors
Legend:
CH = Chain(s)
SL ST = Slip Stitch
DC = Double Crochet
SP = space
STS = Stitches
Note: the [brackets] in the pattern indicate the stitches that are worked in a chain 2 space
Ch 5, sl st in 1st chain to join.
ROUND 1: (inside circle)
Ch 3, 2DC, Ch 2, 3DC, ch 2, 3DC, ch 2, 3DC, ch 2.
Sl st in the top of the chain to join.
ROUND 2: (in ch 2 spaces)
Ch 4. *[3DC, ch 2, 3DC], ch 2. Repeat from * two more times. In last ch 2 space: [3DC, ch 2, 2DC], sl st in 2nd chain in the ch 4
ROUND 3: (in ch 2 spaces)
*[3DC], ch 2, [3DC, ch 2, 3DC], ch 2. Repeat from * three more times. Sl st to join.
ROUND 4: (in ch 2 spaces)
Ch 4. *[3DC], ch 2, [3DC, ch 2, 3DC], ch 2, [3DC], ch 2. Repeat from * two more times. [3DC], ch 2, [3DC, ch 2, 3DC], ch 2, [2DC], sl st in 2nd chain in the ch 4
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Work as many rows as you'd like, the pattern repeats in the same way.
